Overview
The Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge will be the hub of Stanford School of Medicine’s educational activities. It is designed to be a state-of-the-art center for medical education, with innovative classrooms, a major conference center, an administrative leadership center and integrated student facilities. Its ground-floor level will be home to the new Simulation Center, a cutting-edge facility where students, residents, faculty and allied health professionals can participate in hands-on learning using mannequins and virtual reality technology.
The Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge will enable the School to deliver its medical and bioscience education programs in high-tech facilities designed to accommodate breakthroughs in information and imaging technologies that are changing how medicine is taught and learned. It will include resources for medical and graduate students, postdoctoral and clinical fellows, residents, faculty and the community.
Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2008, with the building ready for full occupancy by March 2010. The facility is estimated to cost $90 million and the School is seeking $50 million in philanthropic gifts to direct toward that cost.
The Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge offers many attractive opportunities for donors who would like to have their names associated with this landmark building or who want to bestow this honor on someone of importance to them or their families.
