Weeks of July 23rd and July 30th
The following work will be ongoing during the weeks of July 23rd and July 30th for the Phase 0/1A Utilities Project:
* Currently Whiting Turner is working on the communication ductbank on the north side of the MSOB building progressing towards PSRL. This work should be completed sometime in the next couple of days enabling them to remove the fencing across the MSOB courtyard and pull it in tight to the west side of the PSRL building. Throughout this week work will continue on the section of this communication ductbank which extends south from PSRL to the east end of MSOB. During this period the fencing will be removed from the area around the fountain enabling pedestrians to walk from the north side of MSOB, by the fountain and down the path between PSRL and Redwood.
* By the end of this week Whiting Turner will be ready to install the last section of the ductbank between the modular buildings and MSOB. At that time fencing will be set up in the area south of the modulars and pedestrian traffic from Welch Road to the north side of MSOB will be blocked. Also at that time, beginning of the week of July 30th, pedestrian access to the east side of MSOB will be reopened to maintain a clear path through to PSRL and Redwood. By July 30th, if you park in the Stockfarm parking lot and work in the Redwood building, you could walk from the parking lot, along the south and east sides of MSOB, in front of PSRL and directly to Redwood.
Replacement of the irrigation and landscaping around PSRL and MSOB will begin this week.
* Work on the steam trench along the south side of CCSR will continue this week and next.
* The new electrical and communication ductbanks in Welch Road will be completed by the end of the week, enabling the two lanes of traffic to flow freely again without the flagman.
* The new fire water service to PSRL is being installed. The tie-in of this new line to PSRL is schedule for 7/24 which will take a couple of hours. During this time the sprinkler system in PSRL will be shutdown.
* Now that the sewer work is complete, the excavation work for the new, electrical ductbank and steam and chilled water piping in Campus Drive has begun. Installation of the piping is scheduled to begin the last week in July. Currently we are on target to complete the work in Campus Drive by mid-September.
Several people have reported problems with dust. Whiting Turner will be spraying more often which should mitigate the dust significantly.
As always, please let me know if you have questions or concerns. I will be out of town the week of July 30th, however, during that week feel free to contact Paul Forti ( pforti@stanford.edu ) directly should you have a question.

Week of July 9th
Please find below advanced notice of construction work on the Connective Elements Project through the week of July 9th:
* Whiting-Turner will began installing the electrical and communications ductbank to the North and then west side of PSRL. Work will began on Monday, July 2nd. The emergency exit plan for the North side of PSRL changed according to drawing #2 in the phasing plan that was distributed last week and is available on the website. This phasing plan is still accurate with the exception of the dates which have slipped by approximately one week.
* The hardscape and landscape to the North of PSRL will be replaced once the electrical and communications work has moved to the West side of PSRL.
* Installation of the chilled water, lake water and reclaimed water lines in Governor's lane will begin and continue south towards Campus Dr. over the next couple of weeks.
Installation of sanitary sewer manhole #8 and the storm drain stub-outs to the Loading Dock & Tunnel in Governor's Lane will be completed.
* The new sanitary sewer line from manhole #6 to manhole #7 in Campus Drive will be pressure tested.
* Installation of the communications ductbank from the existing vault in Welch Rd. to the Northwest corner of MSOB will begin Thursday and continue into the next week. To facilitate this work there will be a detour around the leg of Welch Road that extends from Oak Road to Campus Drive. The detour will require cars and trucks driving south on Welch Road to take Oak Road west and Stockfarm Road east before returning to Campus Drive south. Marguerite buses and staff or vendors with business at MSOB will be permitted to drive on Welch Road.
* Additionally, on or about July 9th, Whiting-Turner will begin installation of the electrical ductbank and lake water piping in Welch Road down towards Campus Drive. A good part of this work will also occur on the weekend of July 14-15 in order to avoid closing Welch Road altogether. The Oak Road detour will remain in place this week and potentially into the following week.
* Whiting-Turner will finish the installation of the steam piping in front of CCSR and between CSSR and PSRL.
* Fabrication has begun on the new steam tunnel that is going into Campus Drive and will continue through next week.
Starting the week of 7/9, the East entrance into MSOB will be closed, the fencing moved and the installation of the communications ductbank from a new vault beside MSOB to the North of PSRL will begin.
