Week of September 4th
The following work will be ongoing next week (September 4th - 7th) for the Phase 0/1A Utilities Project.

* Under the supervision of Whiting Turner the landscaping work between MSOB and the modular buildings will continue. Additionally, the plantings in this area and the decomposed granite walkway will be replaced.
* Whiting Turner and various other subcontractors will continue the excavation of the road and the installation for the new chilled water piping and steam tunnel in Campus Drive.
* Stanford communications will continue installing new phone and data lines throughout the new communications duct banks. Formal notifications will go to the building contacts if your building is affected by the communications cutovers. In most cases, the cutover is virtually invisible to the user barring any unexpected events.
Additionally we had a Connective Elements Steering Committee Meeting on Thursday, August 30th to work on the logistics plan for the next phase of construction -- the Loading Dock and tunnel in front of CCSR and the demolition of Fairchild Auditorium which are targeted to begin in mid-October. The Auditorium will close permanently on September 30th. We will remove all items of any value by the 15th of October and then begin asbestos abatement and demolition. Several really good comments and/or suggestions came up during our Steering Committee discussion including a full discussion of the Fairchild access routes, the location of EAP sites and the next set of changes to the parking lot. The Phase II logistics plan should be available on the Li Ka Shing Center website within a couple of weeks. If you have thoughts or comments when you look at it, please let us know.
In terms of parking, the permits for lottery parking will expire on September 30, 2007, hence a lottery parker will be allowed to park in the lottery lot for an additional month of the new fiscal year, but only if they also have a valid "A" permit. If a person is thinking about changing from "A" permit parking to "C" permit parking you would still need to buy a one month "A" permit to accompany their "L" permit in order to park in the lottery lot through September 30th. Sometime before September 30th, Parking and Transportation will administer the lottery drawing for a significantly smaller number of lottery spots. With the implementation of fencing in the Phase II logistics plan we will lose 55 lottery parking spots.
All for now. Have a really great Labor Day Weekend !
