Months of September & October
As you may have noticed much of the utilities work in the former L-15 parking lot has been finished. Whiting Turner is completing the temporary road surfaces and replacing the landscape that was removed during construction. However, most of Whiting Turner's efforts right now are focused on laying down the new steam tunnel and completing the chilled water work in Campus Drive.
The big news for this update is to announce the closure and re-engineering of the Quarry Road Extension Parking Lot (L-9). On October 2nd we will close the southern half of the this lot -- the portion in front of the Grant building -- to re-engineer and re-stripe the lot so that it is safer and more intuitive to use, can safely accommodate three large trucks and several smaller trucks making quick deliveries or deliveries that need to be staged, and so that it can provide for new Offsite Service Vehicle parking for those moving off-campus and more disabled parking. We expect this construction to take approximately one month and hope to have it substantially completed before there are major shifts again to the L-15/L-16 lot.
We apologize for any inconvenience during the one month of construction however there appears to be adequate “A parking in the PS1 garage (corner of Roth Way and Campus Drive) to accommodate those who are displaced. Once complete this additional receiving and delivery parking will enable us to close more of the L-15/L-16 lots and begin the Li Ka Shing Center construction in earnest.
Thank you for your continued cooperation. If you have questions, please ask!
Maggie
