Construction notice - weeks of August 18th and 25th and September 2nd

Hello everyone.

Following the interruption of vacations, this notice will resume the regular advanced notices of construction activity that we previously mailed to the Medical School Campus and placed on the LKSC website. As you can see, we are making rapid progress on all parts of the site. We are expecting final occupancy for the new Loading Dock as early as December. We are installing footing rebar, digging the pits for the underground utilities and getting ready to shotcrete the SIM1 north wall. The first, second and 50% of the third floor steel has been erected now at the LKSC. Finally the Clark Center Service area is complete and ready to open as early as mid the week of August 25th.

When the Clark Center Service area is opened, there will be several modifications to the construction parking lot. The drive into the lot will be narrowed down to one lane and entry to the lot will be restricted to construction vehicles and receiving/delivery vehicles only. No small contractors and no private automobiles (even for drop off and pick up) will be allow inside the lot. Most of the receiving and delivery will be forced to occur at the west end of the lot at the rear of Beckman. Construction will begin parallel to the Clark Center sidewalk and a new pedestrian pathway through the construction area will be built. NO BICYCLES will be allowed on the new pedestrian pathway.

The following is the three week look ahead for the weeks of August 18 and 25th and September 2nd for the Phase 1B Utility, LKSC, SIM1, RAF Ramp Relocation, Loading Dock & Tunnel, and Campus Drive Re-alignment projects.

Once WT has the approved TIO, we will begin construction on the Fairchild generator relocation.

Thank you all for your continued patience and cooperation with the construction efforts -- especially those of you who are in, or have animals in, the RAF 1 and 2. We realize that with the inception of the SIM1 project, that we are in construction now on every side of the RAFs. The good news is that we are closed to the halfway mark given that we began work in March, 2007 and are planning to complete the LKSC and SIM1 during the spring and summer of 2010, respectively. Also good news is that the construction is going very smoothly and promises to yield us much needed new facilities.

Just a reminder that their is a website for the LKSC with a live webcam. ( http://lksc.stanford.edu)
