LKSC Building

GFRC and precast Skin erection

Forming of basement walls are in progress an scheduled to be complete by December 12th
Erection of steel columns and steel beams from the basement floor to 2nd floor is scheduled to begin December 8th; work will continue through the month of December 2008

Campus Drive Realignment

The following work will be ongoing the weeks of 12/1/, 12/8, & 12/15 for the Campus Drive Realignment Project:

Week of 12/1
Install walls and lid rebar in steam vault W5
Install first pieces of concrete steam tunnel in Welch Rd
Final excavation for steam vault W1 slab

Week of 12/8
Install concrete steam tunnel along Welch Rd
Set and pour slab for steam vault W1
Pour concrete for walls and lid of steam vault W5

Week of 12/15
Strip formwork of steam vault W5
Lay chilled water line around steam vault W5
Install walls and lid rebar in steam vault W1

Loading/Receiving Dock

The Loading dock, Receiving Area and Tunnel are nearly complete
Floors are currently being sealed and burnished
Final cleaning is scheduled during the next two weeks
Final approvals for all MEP systems and Life Safety systems are being pursued
WT is preparing for the final punch walk on December 10th, 2008

RAF Ramp Relocation

The new ramp portion of the project is nearly complete
Final installation of handrail and all touch up painting will be performed during the next two weeks
Work for the LKSC Entry Bridge portion of the project is scheduled to begin during the early part of February, 2009

Construction Impact Update

1st Notice: Area: Fairchild Entrance (Between Fairchild and Alway/Lane Entrances)
Duration: Thursday, December 18, 2008 - February (First week), 2009
Impact: The Fairchild Entrance, located directly outside of LKSC will remain open thoughout the project -however the connection between Fairchild and Alway/Lane will be severed for over one month. Those coming from the South (Clark Center Cafe) will still have access to the building. Everyone going from Fairchild to Alway/Lane will need to go south, around Fairchild, past Clark and back to Alway/Lane. This closure is required to make utility connections between LKSC and the campus infrastructure. We are going to complete all the necessary site work at the same time to ensure that multiple closures are not required. The work was scheduled to use as much of the holiday shutdown as possible to avoid inconveniencing Fairchild occupants.

2nd Notice: Area: Beckman Tunnel (Between Beckman and LKSC)
Duration: Friday, December 12, 2008 - Monday, December 14, 2008
Impact: The contractor will be installing the last piece of waterproofing on the tunnel today. The area impacted will be further away from Beckman and represents the remaining 10% application for this product. Previous applications were reported to H&S due to lingering odor issues. H&S has the MSDS sheets on file for all SoM individuals to review, if interested.

2nd Notice: Area: Welch Road Closure (Between Campus Drive and MSOB Driveway)
Duration: Completed by End of January, 2009
Impact: The closure of Welch Road is scheduled to be completed by the end of January.
